If you had to pick a favorite holiday would it be Christmas? I think many people would say yes as we all have childhood memories of that holiday. Christmas is probably the one holiday that parents spend the most time on making special for their kids.  Like most families we would have special meals, family traditions, relatives visiting, decorations and of course presents.

In our family we had the same decorations that we used year after year. Some new ones were added of course but many were handed down from my grandparents.  We have ornaments on our tree now that my parents used on their tree and they sure do bring back memories. Was it that way at your house?

Do Vintage Christmas Ornaments Have Special Memories For You?

Do you decorate a Vintage Christmas Tree? I can remember hanging plastic ornaments much like these on my tree growing up. In fact I think these were often the ones we were allowed to hang up first since they were plastic and wouldn't break like the glass balls that covered most of our tree. We had to wait until we were older to hang the important Christmas ornaments.

My sister is younger then I am and I was so happy when I was able to help hang the glass ornaments and how grown up I felt. She on the other hand was still only allowed to hang the plastic ornaments. This would always caused a discussion on her part on why I could hang the glass ones and she couldn't. It is amazing how looking at these ornaments could bring back those memories.

Don't Throw That Vintage Hardware Away

Are you an auction person who loves to buy box lots? We are and bring boxes full of items home from each auction we attend. Then of course the fun begins of finding out what you bought in those boxes. We have always felt it is like Christmas morning opening those boxes because you never know what treasure you find hidden in a box. One of our favorite finds is vintage hardware and there is so much you can do with these pieces.

People buy vintage hardware for a piece of furniture and to use for the purpose they are intended. There are also many other ways to use vintage hardware and you can check out our Pinterest board that is filled with ideas. I am truly amazed at some of the ways people re-purpose vintage hardware.

I Love Vintage and Collectible Items

I love vintage and collectible items and so it was natural for me to start selling these items. I collect things (too many I think) and enjoy sharing these items with others. One nice benefit of selling is being able to buy items to add to my collection.  I have found it is often easier to buy then to sell but I am working on downsizing a bit.  I have been selling on eBay since 2000 and have listed many vintage items over the years.

I also enjoy hearing from buyers about the items I am selling and the story behind them. I sell a lot of vintage racing items and have often received notes about drivers, tracks and the memories they have of these places. It is interesting to hear the memories from other people about racing. Often people buy some of these items because they attended that track or their dad raced there. This is an example of vintage racing program book we have listed on eBay.

I think most vintage and collectible sellers are also preserving a bit of our history by sharing these items and having them go to a good home and not the landfill. So stop by today and check out my other vintage items on eBay.

Did You Have a Vintage Tree Topper On Your Christmas Tree?

When I  was growing up Christmas time and all the family traditions were very important. We all loved decorating the Christmas Tree and putting the tree topper on the tree was a very important job. Putting our angel on the top and stringing the lights were my dad's job the rest was left up to the kids. We had the same angel on our tree year after year like many families. This is just one of many Christmas traditions for many families including my own.

This cute Angel Tree Topper is listed on eBay and you can see she how pretty she is lit up. She measures about 8 inches high and would look adorable on any Christmas Tree. You can see the rest of the pictures on the listing.

Does Christmas Bring Back Memories of Your Childhood?

Christmas is such a magical time for kids and I have fond memories of each and every Christmas. It was a time when the whole family got together with huge meals and lots of presents. Even today the Christmas season is very special to me and so are the many vintage decorations I put out each year. I have a Santa like this one that was my great grand mom's and I see her when I look at my Santa.

Do you have vintage holiday decorations that bring back memories? Often these types of decorations are handed down over the years and kept in the family. When I saw this Santa I had to list him in hopes he finds a family to spend years with and make great memories.

He stands about a foot tall with a cotton beard and black boots that have Japan stamped on the bottom. He is listed in my newly opened Etsy store and that store may in fact become a vintage Christmas store.
