If you had to pick a favorite holiday would it be Christmas? I think many people would say yes as we all have childhood memories of that holiday. Christmas is probably the one holiday that parents spend the most time on making special for their kids.  Like most families we would have special meals, family traditions, relatives visiting, decorations and of course presents.

In our family we had the same decorations that we used year after year. Some new ones were added of course but many were handed down from my grandparents.  We have ornaments on our tree now that my parents used on their tree and they sure do bring back memories. Was it that way at your house?

Do Vintage Christmas Ornaments Have Special Memories For You?

Do you decorate a Vintage Christmas Tree? I can remember hanging plastic ornaments much like these on my tree growing up. In fact I think these were often the ones we were allowed to hang up first since they were plastic and wouldn't break like the glass balls that covered most of our tree. We had to wait until we were older to hang the important Christmas ornaments.

My sister is younger then I am and I was so happy when I was able to help hang the glass ornaments and how grown up I felt. She on the other hand was still only allowed to hang the plastic ornaments. This would always caused a discussion on her part on why I could hang the glass ones and she couldn't. It is amazing how looking at these ornaments could bring back those memories.

Don't Throw That Vintage Hardware Away

Are you an auction person who loves to buy box lots? We are and bring boxes full of items home from each auction we attend. Then of course the fun begins of finding out what you bought in those boxes. We have always felt it is like Christmas morning opening those boxes because you never know what treasure you find hidden in a box. One of our favorite finds is vintage hardware and there is so much you can do with these pieces.

People buy vintage hardware for a piece of furniture and to use for the purpose they are intended. There are also many other ways to use vintage hardware and you can check out our Pinterest board that is filled with ideas. I am truly amazed at some of the ways people re-purpose vintage hardware.

I Love Vintage and Collectible Items

I love vintage and collectible items and so it was natural for me to start selling these items. I collect things (too many I think) and enjoy sharing these items with others. One nice benefit of selling is being able to buy items to add to my collection.  I have found it is often easier to buy then to sell but I am working on downsizing a bit.  I have been selling on eBay since 2000 and have listed many vintage items over the years.

I also enjoy hearing from buyers about the items I am selling and the story behind them. I sell a lot of vintage racing items and have often received notes about drivers, tracks and the memories they have of these places. It is interesting to hear the memories from other people about racing. Often people buy some of these items because they attended that track or their dad raced there. Did You Have a Vintage Tree Topper On Your Christmas Tree?

When I  was growing up Christmas time and all the family traditions were very important. We all loved decorating the Christmas Tree and putting the tree topper on the tree was a very important job. Putting our angel on the top and stringing the lights were my dad's job the rest was left up to the kids. We had the same angel on our tree year after year like many families. This is just one of many Christmas traditions for many families including my own.

Does Christmas Bring Back Memories of Your Childhood?

Christmas is such a magical time for kids and I have fond memories of each and every Christmas. It was a time when the whole family got together with huge meals and lots of presents. Even today the Christmas season is very special to me and so are the many vintage decorations I put out each year. I have a Santa like this one that was my great grand mom's and I see her when I look at my Santa.

Do you have vintage holiday decorations that bring back memories? Often these types of decorations are handed down over the years and kept in the family. When I saw this Santa I had to list him in hopes he finds a family to spend years with and make great memories.

He stands about a foot tall with a cotton beard and black boots that have Japan stamped on the bottom. He is listed in my newly opened Etsy store and that store may in fact become a vintage Christmas store.

Do You Collect Vintage Racing Items?

We have been race fans for many years and continue to love and be involved in the sport at our local track. We spent many years going to Pocono Raceway to watch the races and one year Evel Kneivel was there preforming. We have always loved watching him perform on TV and to see him live was even better.

Here is a vintage flyer from when he performed at Pocono. This is an original advertising flyer that was sent out and you can see the listing on eBay. There were motorcycle races held at Pocono Raceway and he was there for one of the motorcycle races.

Do you have Vintage Christmas Lights Like These?

We love Vintage Christmas Items and buy, sell and collect all types of Christmas Decorations. We also love auctions and buy a lot of box lots and you never know what you will find in a box. These lights were a box lot find from our local auction and we had never seen these before.

They all work and we have about 10 extra bulbs that we will send along with these strings to use as replacements. We looked around to find another place to buy replacement bulbs and couldn't find anywhere. If anyone knows were you can find these bulbs we would love to know about it.

These are cute round ball lights and as you can see in the photos there are places were the paint has worn off. Do you Remember Hatfield Speedway?

Years ago there were a lot of local race tracks in our area and Hatfield Speedway was just one of them. Many people that went to the races had choices of local tracks and could find a race on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Things sure have changed and now we have one local track and a few others that are around but not very close. Finding a lot of vintage items from Hatfield Speedway was exciting especially paper items so I listed quite a few at auction this week. I have listed both stock are and drag racing items since they raced both at Hatfield Speedway.

Here are two advertising post cards for both the Stock Cars and the Drag Races held at Hatfield. These were sent out to people to advertise the races and are in really good shape for their age.

Do You Know What a Moistener Is?

We go to auctions all the time and brought home a box of items. We started unpacking the box and in the bottom was this vintage Moistener made by Sengbusch. This is white porcelain  with a metal wheel that turns the cylinder inside. These were used to moisten stamps and envelopes rather then having to lick the item. They were also used to moisten your fingers when reading and turning pages. People would  put some water in the bottom and then take the item and go across the wheel. As it moved it would pick up moisture and moisten the item.

This one is in good shape with just a few marks from use and would look great on any vintage desk. The moistener measures about 4 1/2 x 3" x 3 1/2" in size.

Do You Remember These Vintage Race Tracks?

We have been race fans for years and years and remember going to some of these race tracks as kids. Racing was so different back then and so much fun. It truly was a family sport for many people. That was where many spent every weekend during racing season and we all have some great memories from those days.

Rememeber These Vintage Christmas Tree Ornaments?

My favorite time of year is the Christmas season and decorating the tree tops my list of things to do. In fact in our house I decorate both a large live tree and an artificial one with vintage ornaments. The boxes show signs of use but every year these ornaments are taken out  and carefully hung on the tree. I love the look of these long handing ornaments and they contrast with all the typical round glass balls.

I have a set of these that were my grandmom's and they are always on my tree. I found these at an estate auction and was really tempted to keep them but decide to list them. I hope someone else can enjoy these vintage Christmas ornaments on their tree.

Do You Ever Make Halloween Cookies?

It does seem funny to ask about Halloween in June and it being 84 degrees outside but October will be here before you know it. As a kid Halloween was a huge holiday at our house we always spent a long time planning and then making our costumes. I was very fornuate to have a great groups of neighborhood friends all about the same age so we would always go as a group and plan our costumes together. Of course there was the annual local parade to walk in and a house decorated with all kinds of scary creatures.

My mom would make us Halloween cookies along with lots of other goodies with scarey names. I found a set of Halloweeen Cookie Cutters and they are listed on eBay. This is a nice set of Hallmark Cookie Cutters with a Bat, Cat, Pumpkin, Witch etc. You can check out all the close up pictures in the listing.

Are You An Indy Car Race Fan?

We have been race fans for years and love both Nascar and Indy Car racing. The vintage racing items from years ago are filled with history and unfortunely many of the paper items are not around any more. One of my favorite memories of growing up is watching the races on TV with my dad. Of course back then there were not many races on TV and if they were it was never the whole race. We still watched everything that was on and the Indy 500 was one of my dad's favorite's races.

We have a vintage 1967 Clymer Indianapolis 500 Yearbook listed on eBay and it is on sale this week. This yearbook is filled with information and photos and is a great piece of racing history. It is amazing to see the cars and how they have changed over the years especially safety wise. Many of these drivers are no long with us and so looking through this sure does bring back memories. This is a great book for any race fan's collection.

Do You Remember Using A Rotary Dial Telephone?

It is amazing to me the difference between the telephones that I grew up with and cell phones today. We had a rotary dial corded phone that you could only go as far as the cord went from the wall when you were talking. Hard to believe isn't it? As a teenager we used to stretch the cord as far as it would go into the next room and close the door to get some privacy. Again hard to believe since today most everyone talks about just about anything just about anywhere in public.

This telephone was called a Trimline model and came out in various colors. These were the latest thing at the time since it replaced the standard black phones that everyone had. The red phone was a popular color at the time.

This one is up for bid on eBay this week and you can see all the pictures on the auction listing. I found this phone at an estate sale and it sure did bring back memories.

Do you Remember Mrs. Beasley?

Growing up Mrs Beasley was my sister's best friend and constant companion. I can remember her going everywhere including sitting at the dinner table each night next to my sister. Funny isn't it how just looking at that doll can quickly brings back those childhood memories.

This Mrs. Beasley is actually the 2000 version that that was made for Children Help USA with the voice of Cheryl Ladd. This doll is new in the box and she has never been taken out of the box. She talks with 11 different phrases and looks just like the original Mrs. Beasley.

Mrs. Beasley is listed on eBay and you can check her out in fact she is on sale today. There are other pictures in the listing including the box which is in good condition with some marks from storage.

Vintage Program Books Are a Piece of Racing History

Are you a race fan that enjoys learning about the history of the sport? Or are you a race fan that remembers those vintage days of racing and how it used to be? One thing is for sure these racing programs are filled with both the history of racing and photos and articles that will bring back memories.

Here is just one that is on sale this week in our eBay store. This is a 1967 Daytona Firecracker 400 Race Program filled with photos, articles and vintage advertising. This was the 9th race that was run at the track.

This is a great piece of racing history for any race fan and can bring back a lot of memories for anyone that remembers what racing used to be like. Look at how far Nascar has come since these days of racing. It is also great to see what a lot of the drivers looked like back then too.

This is one of my favorite's an Atlantic Mold Ceramic Christmas Tree. This one does not have the lights glued in so you can arrange them any way you want. When this tree is on an table and lit up it gives off a soft glow of different colors and is very pretty.

Original Vietnam War Picture Lot A Piece of History

I love seeing old vintage photos from any time and I found this lot from Vietnam from around 1972. I look at these photos and realize they are a part of our history and wonder about the person that took these? Was he a young many drafted like many  into that war or someone who went willingly? What were his thoughts as he took these pictures? Just so many questions when you look at these pictures. 

I have the lot listed on eBay and am hoping they find a good home. There are 44 photos in this lot and there are pictures of ships, helicopters, people, cities and beautiful scenery. Before Door Bells were Door Knockers

It is often hard to believe what people used years ago before our modern day Door Bells. This Vintage Brass Door Knocker is one example and is actually a simple design but many were very ornate and unique. Brass was a common material and most people had wooden doors.  We have a Pinterest board for vintage hardware and Door Knockers you can check out to see some examples.

This Door Knocker measures 8" x 3" in size and also has the screws in the back to attach it to your door. We have this listed at auction this week on eBay and you can all additional pictures if you check out the listing.

Vintage 1969 Nascar Banquet Program

We have followed car racing ever since we were kids and still enjoy it today. This is a vintage Nascar Banquet Program that was held in Daytona Beach in 1969. The program is an original item that was given out at the banquet and has that year's winners pictured on the cover. There is also information and the events of the night inside the program.

Over the years a lot of these paper items didn't last so there are not many of these around. This one is in good condition and is listed on eBay this week for auction. You can check out the eBay listing for the rest of the pictures and information.

Do You Remember Doris Day?

Funny how certain movie stars stay with you over the years and others you never remember isn't it? Some are more famous then others or you remember them because of shows you watched or movies they were in. Well Doris Day was one of my mom's favorites and over the years and I loved watching her in movies including Starlite. This is a musical that came out in 1951 and included many great stars at that time.

We have listed on eBay the Vintage 16mm Film Reel lot for the musical Starlite. This lot inlcudes all three reels and they are all 2000 ft in lenght. This is a great find for any Doris Day fan or Vintage Film Reel Collector.

Lot of Vintage Lamp Electrical Plugs and Sockets

We came across these items by accident in a box lot we bought at an auction. We were looking at the other items in the box we came across a bag of these plugs and decided do a bit of research.

As you can see the lot consists of  a light base with a plug, vintage Bakelite sockets and lamp plugs some still new in the package. We decided to list them since we found out there are people who repair old lamps and these items could be put to good use.

You can tell these are vintage sockets and plugs since they have the same size prongs on the ends. We all know the new ones have one end bigger then the other for safety reasons.

Home Movies from the 1960's up for Auction

I was at an auction and bought a bunch of box lots and when I got home I found these vintage 8mm film reels in one of the boxes.

Most of these have writing on them such as 1960's Christmas, Camping, Football, Easter and more. I remember when my dad loved filming us and then replaying them at family get togethers over the years. Do you remember those days? It was alwasy fun and sometime embarrassing to watch those movies as we grew up.

I don't know the family but it is always fun looking at the time period of these film reels like the clothes, scenery, cars etc it is really a walk back in time.

Home Movies on 8mm Film Reels

As any parent knows pictures, slides and home movies were a very important part of life years ago. Many families would record trips, holidays and their family life on film reels to watch when ever they wanted. Today technology has changed all that but watching these old movies are still so much fun.

I have listed a lot of vintage 8mm film reels on eBay. These are home movies and are marked with things like Christmas, Birthday's, Trip from California to St Louis as well as some that are not marked. There are also a few dates on them from the 1960's.
